Gold Standard Assessments

Consistent with NICE-Guidelines

  • Our assessments offer the most comprehensive understanding of your child’s intellectual and academic abilities, their psychological wellbeing, and their day-to-day independent abilities. These assessments are for children and young people between 4- and 18-years-old.

  • Our assessments offer a very detailed understanding of your child’s strengths and weaknesses at school and at home, and they can tell us much more information about their abilities and challenges than a test at school, or an educational psychologist’s brief report.

The outcome of this assessment can help with planning the future of your child’s education, support their emotional and psychological wellbeing, and identify exactly where all their intellectual, academic and day-to-day skills are compared to other children of their age.

  • These assessments can inform an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) should it be necessary, individualised education plans at school, or evidence their emotional and psychological needs.

  • We will discuss your family history, your child’s development from birth, and their journey through education. We will review your child’s social skills, independent living skills and emotional and psychological development.

We can also liaise with school and review correspondence to inform our understanding. Your child will be asked to complete many age appropriate puzzles and pencil and paper tasks. This will always take place face-to-face, and these tasks are specifically designed to understand different areas of your child’s abilities.

    • Verbal Skills: Solving verbal problems, sharing their knowledge and expressing their understanding.

    • Non-Verbal Problem Solving: Solving practical, hands-on tasks, and reasoning about abstract concepts such as patterns and sequences.

    • Numeracy: Completing mental arithmetic, written maths problems and reasoning about mathematical concepts.

    • Adaptive Behaviour: Reviewing everyday tasks in everyday life to determine how much adult support is needed.

    • Reading, Writing and Spelling: Assessing a mastery of phonics, reading fluency, comprehension, reading accuracy, and handwriting.

    • Working Memory: Holding verbal and non-verbal information in mind.

    • Processing Speed: Assessing speed and accuracy on simple tasks.

  • We will review all the information to come to a comprehensive understanding of your child’s strengths and difficulties. We may be able to identify specific learning difficulties (e.g., dyslexia or dyscalculia), learning disabilities or giftedness. Appropriate diagnoses can be made if there is sufficient evidence.

At a feedback meeting, we can take you through everything we did, what it means and what we recommend for your child. All the information will be detailed in a report, along with recommendations most appropriate for your child.

Please fill out a few details below and we will be in touch via email with the next steps.
