Dr. Pauline Tapping
Clinical Psychologist
Pauline is a highly specialised Clinical Psychologist offering a range of tailored therapy approaches and neurodevelopmental expertise. Pauline has worked in Mental Health and Psychology since 2007 and is passionate about supporting children, young people and families to improve their mental health and wellbeing. Her approach is client centred, collaborative and empathetic.
Pauline obtained a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The University of Manchester in 2015 and is registered as a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS). She also holds a Masters Distinction in Health Psychology and a BSc in Human Psychology.
Pauline has worked in Psychology and mental health for nearly 17 years. Pauline has worked in Paediatric Psychology, Health Psychology, CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) and Learning Disability services. She has extensive experience of working within fast paced and challenging NHS environments across the country, including inpatient, outpatient, acute A&E services, and community-based work. She also has a broad range of experience working within Charity and Educational sectors. Pauline also has a special interest in supporting looked after children (LAC) and those who have experienced trauma and may present with challenging or unusual behaviours and emotional difficulties.
Pauline is able to offer a range of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Solution Focussed Therapy (SFT), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) and Narrative Therapy, as well as many other approaches and models.
Pauline has received specialist training for conducting Autism Assessments and uses the ADOS-2. She is also able to offer ADHD assessments.
Pauline's academic work has been presented worldwide, including her Doctoral Thesis which explored how children with a chronic health condition communicate their pain experiences using a newly developed iPad app. Pauline has a wealth of experience of lecturing and training students and allied healthcare professionals on a variety of Psychology related topics. She has lectured at King's College London and presented research to the Department of Health. Pauline has worked on a number of high-profile research projects with King's College London and the University of Leeds.
Pauline is a qualified Coach and has completed the Level 5 Coaching Professional Apprenticeship.
Pauline regularly supports professionals to maximise their performance. Pauline is a qualified Psychology Supervisor and supports Trainee Clinical Psychologists in their development.
