Tara Chauhan
Specialist Clinical Psychologist
Tara is an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist with experience working across a range of NHS services, including CAMHS, neurodevelopmental services, adult learning disabilities and health
psychology. She has supported children, young people and families with a range of difficulties, including anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma, attachment difficulties and
neurodevelopmental differences. Her experience also includes neurodevelopmental and cognitive assessments, working with people living with physical health conditions, and exploring how
different aspects of a person’s identity and life experiences can shape their emotional wellbeing.
Tara currently works within an NHS CAMHS Edge of Care service, where she works alongside young people, families and the wider network around them, including social care professionals and residential care staff. She offers psychological consultation, individual work with young people and supervision, helping people make sense of what might be happening for a young person and find
ways to support them.
Tara aims to create a warm, safe and non-judgemental space where young people and families feel listened to and understood. She recognises that every young person’s experiences are different
and values taking the time to understand their perspective, relationships and circumstances. Her work draws on a range of approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), systemic
approaches, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).
She enjoys working collaboratively with young people, families and professionals to build on their strengths, strengthen relationships and find a way forward together
